SERVING YOUTH

The Mount Baker Council is dedicated to providing Scouting opportunities to every young person in our service area. To accomplish this goal, we need to effectively reach out to un-served and under-served neighborhoods with the invitation to participate. We work in partnership with community organizations to make Scouting readily available. We excel at recruiting, training and coaching adult volunteer leaders so that they have the tools to confidently deliver the program to our Scouts.

OUTREACH

Our Fund-A-Scout program will not only help make Scouting opportunities available to more families, but will help provide handbooks, uniforms, registration fees, and camp fees for those youth who could otherwise not be a part of Scouting.

For a century, the Mount Baker Council has been providing Scouting programs that develop self-confidence, leadership skills, outdoor awareness and citizenship to nearly 7,000 youth each year. We are volunteer-driven and are successful because of the 3,700 registered adult leaders who serve at all levels of our programs.


The following five key focus areas make Scouting unique:

  • Leadership: Scouting’s purpose is to prepare young people for a lifetime of leadership.
  • Achievement: The Scouting experience includes learning valuable skills and achieving meaningful goals.
  • Character: Scouting’s lessons last a lifetime. Scouting helps shape and instill in youth the qualities that guide good decision making.
  • Service: The Scout Oath focuses on service to God, service to our nation and to our community.
  • Outdoors: We utilize the outdoors as a laboratory for learning to appreciate our world and our place in it.

For more than one hundred years, Boy Scouts of America has provided programs with a singular mission of preparing young people for adulthood, to be responsible citizens and give unselfish service to others.

Our annual Scout Auction is an important source of revenue.

We are proud to announce our 2017 Auction – “The Summit”. The Summit is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Tulalip Resort Hotel. As we plan our auction, we invite you to both showcase your business and support our character-building programs with a donation.

Last year’s auction was a huge success, raising over $30,000 to assist needy Scouts and more than $78,000 in general support. Because of strong community support, the Mount Baker Council continues to deliver vibrant, life-changing programs and we strive to offer Scouting to families that may otherwise not have the means to participate.
